Event Description:
As Sugar Land celebrates 60 years since its incorporation, join Mayor Joe Zimmerman and retiring City Manager Allen Bogard as they reflect on the City’s past, discuss current events, and explore what’s next for Sugar Land. This will be City Manager Allen Bogard’s final State of the City address, as he plans to retire in late January after a 44-year career in public service that recently culminated with a career excellence award from International City/County Management Association. The event will include an introduction of the City’s new City Manager, Mike Goodrum. Other presentation highlights include:
• plans for the implementation of the recent $90.76 million voter-approved bond program, which includes projects related to drainage, facilities, streets and a new animal shelter,
• upcoming work on the City’s mobility master plan, which will shift the City’s focus from moving vehicles to moving people, and
• how Sugar Land is maintaining and building upon its position as an economic and financial leader that improves its quality of life and minimizes the residential tax burden.
