Richmond— 10/01/2016 —Bush High School Theater present William Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” October 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 24th at 7 p.m. at the Bush Auditorium. Students in the Theater department have been working since the beginning of the school year to bring this Shakespeare classic to life. But not in a way you’d expect. “When most kids today think of Shakespeare, they see nothing but problems and challenges with the words,” said Steve Carpentier, Director of the Theater at Bush High School, “However, what we have done and what we’ve decided to make Shakespeare more accessible to more students is set the entire play to a Hip-Hop/Rock and Roll Beat. We also set the entire play in 4000 years in the future with a Steampunk feel,” Carpentier added. Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew is the story of how Petruchio, the money-grubbing wife hunter, transforms the aggressive and bad-tempered Katherine Minola into an obedient, honey-tongued trophy wife.
