| Andy Meyers was elected Fort Bend County Commissioner Precinct 3 in 1996, re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. Commissioner Meyers holds BS and MBA Degrees from LSU and is a licensed CPA and Real Estate Broker and held Securities Dealers licenses. Commissioner Meyers is focused on efficient and effective use of taxpayers’ dollars. The Fort Bend Commissioners Court is made up of 4 Commissioners, elected by Precinct, and a County Judge, who is the presiding officer and who is elected countywide. Decisions are made by a majority of the court. This is the governing and policy making body of the County and they approve all expenditures and budgets of the elected offices and non-elected departments. In addition, the Commissioners Court sets the tax rates and most fees for the County, makes appointments to boards and committees and builds and maintains roads and bridges. Among many other responsibilities the court develops and implements Long-Range, Strategic Plans for the County. |
