Description

It’s an April Fool’s Day celebration as FBSO’s annual children’s concert peeks into all corners of the orchestra, looking for the culprit in this high-spirited murder mystery. The concert features words by Lemony Snicket in this work by Nathaniel Stookey. Similar in feel to “Peter and the Wolf” and “The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra”, “The Composer is Dead” introduces young audience members to the different instruments of the orchestra in an engaging, entertaining production. It’s a perplexing murder mystery where all the participants seem to have alibis, all certainly have motives – and all are musical instruments! Also on the concert is Micha Namenwirth’s “Divertimento for Toys and Orchestra”. This engaging selection is performed with toy trumpets, recorders, percussion instruments and the orchestra. FBSO will hold an instrument petting zoo following the performance. Other activities are being planned for the day; please check the website for more details.
