Houston is one of the largest and most rapidly growing metro regions in the US and regional gross product has been growing faster than most of the largest metro regions. However\, its rate of postsecondary attainment trails the national average for metro regions. Among the 20 largest metros in the US\, Houston ranks 19th in educational attainment. Because higher education completion rates in Houston area colleges and universities slightly lag behind the national average\, the trend of change does not appear positive and slow growth in postsecondary attainment threatens economic growth in the region. \n\n\n\nHouston GPS is an integrated system of cohesive\, interdependent strategies that are designed to increase and accelerate student completion and smooth two-year college transfer while improving educational quality of Houston area students.\n\n\n\nPanelists\n\nDr. Teri Longacre\n\nVice Provost and Dean\, Undergraduate Student Success\n\nUniversity of Houston \n\n\n\nDr. Betty Fortune\n\nExecutive Director of Success and Completion\n\nHouston Community College\n\n\n\nTom Sugar\n\nVice President\n\nEAB X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:
